Theodore Czachur Obituary

Theodore (Ted) J. Czachur Sr., 93, passed away peacefully on November 16, 2021, surrounded by his family.  A lifelong resident of Bayonne, Ted, or as he was known "Dad”, “Pop Pop”, and to his extended family-“Uncle Tadziu”, was a loving husband to his wife Theresa (Sinnicki), for 65 years.  He was, and will always be the pillar of strength for his wife, his three children, Judy, Ted Jr. and Karen, and his grandson Alex.  His family meant more to him than anything else in the world and he was extremely proud of his children and grandson.  An avid boatman, he instilled in us a love of the water and boats, with summers being spent living on the family’s houseboat at the Jersey shore.  He loved family vacations and those memories will forever be cherished by us.

A proud veteran, Ted served in the United States Army during the Korean War.  He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, and was employed at the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey as an electrician at Newark Airport for 25 years.

After his retirement in 1991, Ted discovered a love for walking, and for over 40 years he would begin his morning by meeting up with his walking buddies at Steven Gregg Park in Bayonne, to start his day with a daily 4-mile walk.

Patient, kind and extremely smart, Ted was loved by everyone who had the good fortune to meet him.  The only thing better than having him as a dad was having him as a grandfather.  He gave us the greatest gift any father or grandfather could give -- he believed in us.  He is the anchor of our family and will always be our superhero.  We love you.

Ted was predeceased by his parents, Josephine and Peter Czachur, his five sisters, Mary, Ann Wojnas, Helen Branagan, Lee Farmer, Tessie Murphy, and four brothers, Stanley, Peter, Frank, and Edward (Lefty).  He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Thursday, November 18th, from 4:00 to 8:00pm at the Dworzanski & Son Funeral Home, 20 E. 22nd St., Bayonne.  A funeral mass will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, November 19, at the Parish of St. John Paul II Church (Our Lady of Mt. Carmel), 39 E. 22nd St., Bayonne.  Cremation will be private.
