Theresa Rose Czachur, affectionately known as "Terri" "Cioci Terri" "Nana" "Mom" passed away peacefully on November 22, 2024, at Center for Hope Hospice & Palliative Care in Scotch Plains, NJ.
A lifelong Bayonne resident, Theresa worked as a billing clerk for the City of Bayonne Water Department for over 30 years before retiring in 1994. She was a devout parishioner of Mt. Carmel Church, where she was an active member of the Rosary Society for many years.
The holiday season and Christmas Eve Vigilia held a special place in her heart, where her passion for decorating shone bright, and her culinary talents dazzled with an array of traditional dishes. From pierogi and kielbasa to homemade horseradish, mushroom soup, kapusta, and her famous Christmas cookies and chruscikis, she created a festive feast that no one could resist. Theresa made it her mission to ensure that everyone left with a delicious care package, guaranteeing they took a piece of her holiday spirit home.
Summertimes were spent in Bay head, NJ, where Theresa and her husband, Theodore, indulged in the joys of life aboard their 48-foot houseboat, docked at the picturesque Johnson Brothers Marina. Every moment spent there was memorable, surrounded by family and friends, whether out on the water or enjoying dockside gatherings. Alongside their houseboat, they owned a speedboat and a small rowboat equipped with a life raft, which offered even more opportunities for adventure such as fishing trips, crabbing excursions, swimming, and serene cruises across the Barnegat Bay.
Theresa had an extraordinary knack for remembering the birthdays of everyone close to her. Through thoughtful gestures whether it was a handwritten card, a small gift, or a heartfelt phone call she created joyful moments that made every person feel special and celebrated. Her radiant and infectious spirit illuminated the lives of everyone she met, leaving an indelible mark on their hearts.
Theresa was predeceased by her dearly beloved husband, Theodore “Ted” Czachur Sr. (2021); her parents, Joseph Sinnicki and Stella (Miskewicz) Sinnicki; and her brothers, Joseph Jr., Edward, and John Sinnicki. My Novena Rose Prayer
O Little Therese of the Child Jesus, please
pick for me a rose from the heavenly gardens
and send it to me as a message of love.
O Little Flower of Jesus, ask God today to
grant the favors I now place with confidence
in your hands…
St. Therese, help me to always believe as
you did, in God’s great love for me, so that I
might imitate your “Little Way” each day.
Amen
