Theresa Naruszewicz Obituary

Theresa Naruszewicz, a beacon of joy and light, entered into eternal rest peacefully on Sunday, August 11, 2024, at the Complete Care at Woodlands in Plainfield, NJ.  Born in Herne, Germany, Theresa immigrated to the United States in 1954, making Bayonne her home. Until her retirement in 2000, Theresa worked at Judicke's Bakery and Globe Delicatessen in Bayonne, where she was known for her friendly and courteous customer service.

A devout parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Theresa's religious faith was a significant part of her life. She was a longtime member of the Mt. Carmel Rosary Society and the Mt. Carmel Seniors.

Theresa led by example through her selfless acts of kindness, always striving to make a difference in the lives of others and supporting communities close to her heart. She was a member of the Friends of Saint Francis of Bayonne, an organization dedicated to helping the less fortunate, and a longtime supporter of the Bayonne Chapter of Deborah, where she devoted much of her time to their initiatives and events.  Her commitment to these causes reflected her compassionate nature, which was an inspiration to many.  In her leisure time, she indulged her passion for walking, savoring the sunshine and outdoors.

Theresa was the epitome of beauty and grace. Her greatest happiness was in her family, and her wisdom and guidance were the cornerstones of their lives. She was a doting grandmother, lovingly known as "Oma," who took immense pride in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and showered them with unending love.  She will be deeply missed by family and friends, but her legacy of care and positivity will live on for all eternity.

Theresa was predeceased by her dearly beloved husband, Walter Naruszewicz (1980); her parents, Adam and Frances Ciesielski; and 11 brothers and sisters. Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Henry and his wife, Petra; Richard and his wife, Connie; Raymond and his wife, Ali; her grandchildren, Stephanie Nylen and her husband Erik; Christina and Jake Naruszewicz; and her great-grandchildren, Lily and Auggie.

A visitation will be held at the Dworzanski & Son Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 14, from 3:00 to 7:00 pm., with a Catholic religious service officiated by Rev. Moris Montoya of St Mary, Star of the Sea, Roman Catholic Church in Bayonne at 6:00 pm.

On Thursday morning, August 15, at 9:30 a.m., a gathering will be held at the funeral home before we proceed to Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington, where Theresa will be laid to rest.

A Mother's love is something
that no on can explain,
It is made of deep devotion
and of sacrifice and pain,
It is endless and unselfish
and enduring come what may
For nothing can destroy it
or take that love away . . .

It is patient and forgiving
when all others are forsaking,
And it never fails or falters
even though the heart is breaking . . .

It believes beyond believing
when the world around condemns,
And it glows with all the beauty
of the rarest, brightest gems . . .
It is far beyond defining,
it defies all explanation,
And it still remains a secret
like the mysteries of creation . . .

A many splendoured miracle
man cannot understand
And another wondrous evidence
of God's tender guiding hand.
