Thomas J. Matuch, a lifelong Bayonne resident, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, July 29, 2023 at Bayonne Medical Center.
Tom worked in the shipping department with the Maidenform Company in Bayonne for 25 years. His most recent position was as a sales associate for Lowes in Jersey City. Tom was a true outdoorsman who spent most of his free time biking and enjoying freshwater trout fishing. With a love for music, he was a self-described concert-goer who also worked as a parking lot attendant for Met-Life Stadium in Newark.
Left to cherish Tom's memory are his sister, Patricia "Tricia" Cerbone (Frank), his brothers, Robert Matuch (Morgan), and Michael Matuch (Donna); nieces and nephews, Matthew Cerbone (Kelsey), Nicholas and Christopher Cerbone, and Zachary Matuch "US Army 1st Lieutenant", and many cousins and dear friends. Predeceased by his beloved parents, John and Eleanor (Jakubowski) Matuch.
Private family services were held at the Dworzanski & Son Funeral Home, followed by cremation at Rosehill Crematory. Interment of ashes will take place at the family plot at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, NJ, on Tuesday, August 8th, at 11:00 A.M.
Afterglow
I’d like the memory of me to be a happy one,
I’d like to leave an afterglow of smiles when day is gone.
I’d like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways,
Of happy times, and laughing times, and bright and sunny days.
I’d like the tears of those who grieve to dry before the sun,
Of happy memories that I leave when life is done.
