Virginia Rusin Obituary

Virginia M. Rusin entered into eternal rest peacefully at her Bayonne residence on October 26, 2025. Born in Worcester, Massachusetts, Virginia moved to Bayonne in 1962, where she made her home and embraced a life that reflected her caring and thoughtful nature.

Virginia worked for the Bayonne Board of Education for over twenty years, teaching at Mary J. Donahue School, Horace Mann School, and Walter Robinson School. Through her passion as an educator, she touched many young lives, leaving a lasting impact that reached far beyond the classroom..

Virginia shared 52 wonderful years of marriage with her husband, Francis “Frank” Rusin. Together, they shared a life rooted in family, faith, and devotion, values that guided them as they raised their children. Virginia and her husband enjoyed traveling and hiking through some of nature’s most beautiful places, including Canada’s provincial parks, the Rocky Mountains, Glacier National Park, and Bryce Canyon, where they made lasting memories surrounded by the beauty they loved.

Affectionately known to many as “Aunt Ginny,” she had a gentle heart and a warm smile that brightened every room she entered.  Virginia was a devout parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, where her faith in God remained deep and unwavering throughout her life. She took pride in being a member of the Mt. Carmel Rosary Society, the Mt. Carmel Senior Citizens Club, the Golden Ages, the Young at Heart Seniors, and the Red Foxes of Bayonne, where she gave her time and dedication to fundraisers and social events, and formed many lasting friendships along the way. As a supportive member of the Friends of Saint Francis of Bayonne, an organization devoted to aiding those less fortunate, Virginia exemplified the true meaning of compassion and empathy.

Virginia's life was filled with love, purpose, and grace, touching everyone who knew her and standing as a beautiful example of a life well lived.

She was predeceased by her husband, Francis Rusin; her parents, Stanley Majewski and Kazimiera (Kaczmarek) Majewski; her son, Paul Rusin, and daughter-in-law, Laurie Rusin; her two sisters, Dorothy Kulig and Eleanor Croteau; and her two brothers, Theodore and Martin Majewski.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Gail Rusin, and her husband, Kenneth Jacobson; her son, Richard Rusin; and her two grandchildren, Daniel Rusin and Katherine Rusin.

Visitation will be held at the Dworzanski & Son Funeral Home on Saturday, November 1, from 9:00 to 10:45 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Paul II Parish (Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church), 39 East 22nd Street, Bayonne. Virginia will be laid to rest with her dearly beloved husband on Monday, November 3, at Notre Dame Cemetery in Worcester, Massachusetts.

Hail, Holy Queen

Hail, Holy Queen, Mother of mercy,
our life, our sweetness, and our hope.
To you do we cry, poor banished children of Eve;

to you do we send up our sighs,
mourning and weeping in this valley of tears.
Turn, then, most gracious advocate,
your eyes of mercy toward us,
and after this, our exile,
show unto us the blessed fruit

of your womb, Jesus.
O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary.
