Walter Makowski, a man whose life was defined by purpose and passion, entered into eternal rest peacefully at home, on April 24, 2025, almost two months shy of his 100th birthday.
Walter was a lifelong resident of Bayonne who dedicated 25 years of his career to serving as a machinist at General Dynamics Corporation, where he made a substantial impact within his profession. His enthusiasm for life was evident during his Friday evenings with friends, filled with laughter and meaningful conversations. As a member of the YMCA in Bayonne, Walter demonstrated a spirit of connection that resonated with those around him. His legacy of wisdom will continue to inspire all those who had the privilege of knowing him.
Walter was predeceased by his parents, Walter and Valentina (Palmowska) Makowski, his three sisters, Stephanie Guagenti, Regina Grzyb, and Helen Narel, and his brother, Joseph F. Makowski. He is survived by his loving family, including nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews, who will forever cherish his memory.
Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the Dworzanski & Son Funeral Home on Monday morning, April 28, from 9:30 to 11:30 AM. A Catholic wake service will be held during visiting hours, followed by interment at Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington, NJ.
The Lord's Prayer
Our Father who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name;
Thy kingdom come;
Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil
Amen
