Raymond X. McAlarney Jr. of Brick, (formerly of Bayonne), passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at the Meridian Rehabilitation and Nursing Home in Brick, NJ.
"Ray" as he was known by all, was born and raised in Jersey City and had lived in Bayonne for more than 30 until his recent illness. He worked a variety of jobs over his lifetime. Ray had many favorite pastimes which include, the outdoors, long walks, swimming in the ocean, the NY Yankees, and spending time with his family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Raymond X. McAlarney Sr., and Charita A. McAlarney (nee: Murtha), and his brother, John McAlarney. Survived by his five sisters, Patricia Bannon (Joseph), Maureen Healy (Timothy), Charita Palumbo (Richard), Kathleen McAlarney, and Margaret Mary Valverde (Juan), and many loving nieces and nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 20, from 3:00 pm. to 7:00 pm. A funeral mass in Ray's honor will be offered on Thursday, September 21, at St. Henry’s R.C. Church, 82 West 29th Street, Bayonne, at 10:45 am. Interment will follow at Holy Name Cemetery, Jersey City, NJ.
